+ How to create a new shopping list?

Select Shopping lists from the menu, and then click the button. In the pop-up window, click the Select a list box to choose a preset list. If you want to specify the name of the shopping list, choose the Custom option, then enter a name in the Name box, and click Save.

+ How to change the name of my shopping list?

There are a few ways to change your shopping list:

  1. On the My lists screen, click the icon on the right side of the shopping list you want to change. Select the Rename button, change the text in the Name field. Then click Save.
  2. On the My lists screen, open the shopping list you want to change and click the menu in the upright corner to select Rename. Change the text in the Name field, and then click Save.

+ How to delete a shopping list?

You can delete a shopping list in several ways:

  1. On the My lists screen, click the icon on the right side of the shopping list you want to delete and click Delete.
  2. On the My lists screen, select the shopping list you want to delete and click the menu in the upright corner to select Delete.

Remember, deleting a shopping list is final, so you need to confirm it by clicking Yes. You cannot restore a deleted shopping list, so please consider before you really delete it.

+ How to share a shopping list with others?

You can start to share in two ways:

  1. On the My lists screen, click the icon on the right side of the shopping list you want to share and click Share.
  2. On the My lists screen, select the shopping list you want to share and click the menu in the upright corner to select Share.

If you know the email address of the person you want to share the list with, enter it in the User email address box and click Save.

If you don't know the email address, please look it up by clicking Contacts button. The app will ask for permission to have access to your contacts so it can synchronize the email addresses found in your contacts. If you have enabled access, synchronization is done. As a next step, find the contact of the person and tick the box on the right.

The person whom you shared the list with needs to register with the app and accept sharing. We will notify the person whom you shared the list with about sharing.

+ What happens if I share the list with someone who hasn't yet registered with the app?

When you share your shopping list with an unregistered user, a notification will be sent to the person at once via email that you have shared a shopping list.

+ How can I add a product to the shopping list?

First, select the shopping list you want to add a product to.

There are several ways to do it:

  1. Typing

    Click on Add product purple box and start typing the product. As you type, you can see a drop-down list. If the product is already listed, select it from the list and the app will automatically add it to your shopping list.

    If you don't see the product in the list, type the product name and click the + button then press ENTER.

  2. Voice Input (Dictation)

    Click on icon in Add product purple box. If you use Voice input for the first time, you will be asked to grant access to your microphone. Once it is enabled, a window pops up and you can start dictating. If you dictate multiple products to your phone, use "and" between the products so that the app lists them as separate items.

  3. Uploading

    Click on icon in Add product purple box. If you have not already enabled the app to access your photos, you should first grant access. Then select the product photo from the gallery and it starts uploading. When uploading is done, you will see the Edit product window where you can change the name of the product.

+ How do I sort my shopping lists in a different order?

You can sort your shopping lists in two ways: in Alphabetical order or by Recently used. By default, your shopping lists are sorted by the order in which they were last opened, this is the shopping list what you see on the top of the My lists screen.

If you want to sort your shopping lists in alphabetical order, click the icon in the right corner of the My lists screen and select Alphabetical order.

If you want to make them in chronological order, click the icon in the right corner on My list screen and select Recently used.

+ How do I sort products on my shopping list?

You can sort the products of a shopping list in an alphabetical order or by product categories.

First, make sure the shopping list you want to be sorted is open. Click the menu in the upright corner to select Sort by option. If you want to sort in an alphabetical order, click the Alphabetical button. If you want to group the products by product categories, click Category option. If you want to make a personalized selection, click the Custom button. To set custom sorting press and hold the swap button next to the product while moving it up or down. Do not forget to click icon when you have finished.

+ How can I remove one or more products from the shopping list?

First, open the shopping list from which you want to delete a product.

If you intend to delete only one product, click on icon next to the appropriate product. Edit product window pops up, use the Delete button to remove the product. The app will prompt your confirmation on removing the product.

If you want to delete multiple products at once, click on menu in the top right corner and select the Delete products option. Tick the empty circles next to the products you want to delete and click on the icon. If you're going to remove all products from the shopping list, select all products by clicking on icon next to the Trash icon and then press icon.

+ How can I move a product from one shopping list to another?

First, open the shopping list from where you want to move products.

Click on menu in the top right corner and select the Move products option. Click on the empty circles next to the products to select the ones you want to replace then click on the icon. If you're going to move all products from the shopping list to another, select all products by clicking on the icon next to the Trash and then press . You'll then see a window where you can choose which shopping list you want to move the selected products to. Click on Selection button to move products.

+ How can I change the product name?

Click on the icon next to the product, and the Edit product window appears. Click on Name button to change the name of the product and press Save.

+ How can I specify the volume and unit of measurement for the product?

Click on the icon next to the product, and the Edit product window appears. Click on Quantity and Unit box to enter the parameters and press Save.

+ How do I add a price to my product?

Click the icon next to the product and Edit product screen will appear. Enter the price of the product without the currency in the Price field, and then click Save.

+ How can I change the product category?

Click the icon next to the product, and the Edit product window appears. Click on the third box, you can select the product category from a drop-down list, then press Save.

+ How can I set the products I buy regularly?

Click on the icon next to the product, and the Edit product window appears. Switch on the icon next to Regular, which turns purple like this when activated, and press Save.

+ How can I upload an image to the product?

Click on the icon next to the product, and the Edit product window appears. If you want to upload a picture from the existing photos, click Upload photo. If you have not already enabled the app to access to your photos, you should first grant it. Then select the product photo from the gallery and it starts uploading. Once uploading is finished click the X button in the top right corner to close the window.

If you wish to take a photo, click Make photo to Take a photo, then press OK to upload. Once the picture is successfully uploaded, it will be displayed. Then, click the X button in the top right corner to close the window.

+ How can I delete an image uploaded to a product?

Click on the icon next to the product, and the Edit product window appears. Click on Remove photo. The app will prompt your confirmation on removing the product. Then, click on the X button in the top right corner to close the window.

+ How can I add a comment to my product?

Click on the icon next to the product, and the Edit product window appears. Type the text you want to be displayed in Comment box. Once you've typed the text, press Save.

RECIPES

+ How can I create recipes?

From the menu select Recipes and click the button. Click on Create button in the pop-up window. If you want to download a recipe from the Internet, select Import option.

+ How can I easily create my recipe?

From the menu select Recipes and click the button. Click on Create button in the pop-up window. You will see the Make recipe screen, where you can enter the name, the ingredients and the steps of preparation, then upload a picture.

If you want to insert an existing recipe into Smartlyst app, copy and paste the text in the Make recipe screen.

Using Ingredients field, mind the followings when entering the ingredients:

First, enter the quantity, add the unit of measurement then the ingredient. Put each ingredient on a separate line, i.e. push Enter after each.

Such as:

  • 1 head of onion
  • 400 g of flour
  • 2 tablespoons of oil

Specifying the ingredients in this way, you will see each ingredient in a separate row, so later on, you'll be able to add them to the shopping list by a click.

You can enter the course of preparation in the Steps box. To have each step one after the other and easily move the steps forwards or backwards later on, push Enter to separate them.

+ How and where can I import recipes?

You can import recipes from Mindmegette.hu and Nosalty.hu pages, which you can do in several ways:

  1. Copy the recipe URL and open the Smartlyst app or the https://app.smartlyst.shop/ web application if you're using a desktop computer. Select Recipes, click on button and then Import button. Copy the recipe URL in the blank field, then click on Save.
  2. This option is working only on Android device. If you're and browsing from a mobile or tablet, open the browser menu, click on Share and select Smartlyst app. The recipe URL will automatically appear in the Import Recipe field, then click on Save. This option is only available for Android devices.

+ How and what can I change the recipe?

Select Recipes and open the recipe you want to change. Click on menu in the top-right corner and select Edit. You can change the followings:

  • Recipe name
  • Photo
  • Note
  • Ingredients
  • Steps
  • Other information: recipe category, quantity and unit, baking time, baking temperature, baking method

As soon as changes made, don't forget to click on Save.

+ How do I add the ingredients of a recipe to the shopping list?

In the menu select Recipes and open the recipe you want to make a shopping list for, then click the Add to List button. First, select the shopping list you want to add the ingredients to and then the ingredients you want to add to the list. Click Add to List and it’s done.

+ How to increase or decrease the dosage of the recipe so that ingredients vary proportionally?

Open the Recipes, select the recipe where you want to adjust the dosage and the ingredients. You will find the dosage next to the ingredients, if you set it when you created the recipe.

If not, you could do so by editing the recipe. Click on menu in the top-right corner, select the Edit, and then at Other data enter the quantity and unit of measurement. Finally click on Save to save changes.

The recipe dosage calculator works by selecting button to decrease the dose, whereas the button to increase the dosage next to the ingredients. If you wish, you can add the modified ingredients to your shopping list by clicking on Add to list button.

The changes made by the calculator are not saved, so if you navigate elsewhere in the app or exit the app, you will see the original set of dosages again.

+ How to delete a recipe or even more recipes at the same time?

Select Recipes and open the recipe you want to remove. Click on menu in the top-right corner and press Delete.

If you want to delete multiple recipes at once, click on the icon to activate it, then click on the recipe you want to remove. To select and remove all recipes, click on the icon again and press icon.

Once you have confirmed the deletion, the recipes are permanently removed and cannot be revoked.

+ How can I share my recipe with others?

There are several ways to share your recipes:

  1. Share one recipe: select the recipe from Recipes, then select Share.
  2. Share multiple recipes: select Recipes and click on icon in the top-right corner to activate the selection. Clicking on the recipe you wish to share. If you want to select and share all recipes, then click on icon again and press icon.
  3. You can also share all the recipes of a category. Open the Recipe categories from the menu and click on the category you want to share. Then click on icon.

If you know the email address of a friend with whom you want to share the recipe, enter it to User's email address and click on Save.

If you don't know the email address of your friend, try searching for it by clicking the Contacts button. The app will request permission to access your contacts, which is also required to synchronise the email addresses found in your contacts. Once enabled, synchronisation is done. Next, find your friend's contact and tick the empty box on the right side of the contact.

The share will be completed if the person you shared the recipe with register for the application and accept it. The user you shared the recipe with will be notified.

+ What happens if I share my recipe with a person not yet registered for the application?

When you share your recipe with an unregistered user, we will send him/her an e-mail invitation at the same time, and the non-registered user will be notified that you have shared a recipe with him/her.

+ How can I upload a picture to the recipe?

Select Recipes and open the recipe you want to modify. Select menu in the top-right corner and press Edit, then click on Upload photo button. If you have not already enabled the app to access your photos, you must first grant access. Then select the recipe photo from the Gallery and it starts uploading. After that, you will see the file name. Click on Save and image upload is completed.

+ How can I change the recipe image?

Select Recipes and open the recipe you want to modify. Select menu in the top-right corner and press Edit then click on Upload photo button. Pick a photo from the gallery you want to replace, and it starts uploading. After that, you will see the file name, click on Save and image upload is completed.

+ How and what can I use the recipe search for?

Using the search engine, you can easily find a specific recipe you want to prepare, or if you know that for instance, you want to make a chicken dish, it lists all your recipes including chicken.

Enter the recipe name or an ingredient of the recipe in the search box, then only those recipes are listed that have the name or ingredient you typed.

+ What is recipe category good for and how does it work?

Using the recipe category makes recipes easy to manage and share. You can create categories like meat dishes, soups, pasta, sweets.

To create a category, open Recipe categories and click on button, enter the name of the category then click on Save.

You can select a category for each recipe. Open Recipes and select the recipe you want to add to a category. Open menu in the top-right corner, select Edit, then at Other data click on Choose a category button and select the right recipe category.

You can filter the given category on Recipes screen. Open Recipes, click on menu and select Filter, then you will find all the recipe categories you have created. Click on the blank square icon to select the category you like, then press FILTER button. If you want to make a soup, there is no need to look through all your recipes but choose the soup category.

By sharing recipe categories, you can share recipes in your category at the same time with others. Select Recipe categories, then click on the category you want to share. Finally click on icon.

+ Where can I find the recipes that are shared with me?

You can find them in Recipes shared with me.

+ How can I change the recipes that were shared with me?

To change the recipes you are shared with, you need to copy them to your recipes. Open Recipes shared with me, then open the recipe you want to change. Click on menu in the top-right corner and select Copy to my own recipes and confirm the request for copying. After that, follow the instructions in paragraph "How and what can I change my recipe?" question.

If you want to copy multiple recipes instantly, open Recipes shared with me and click on icon to activate it. Then click on the recipes you want to copy. If you want to select and copy all recipes, click on the icon again. Once you selected, press icon in the top bar and confirm copying.

+ How can I delete recipes shared with me?

Select Recipes shared with me and open the recipe you want to delete. Click on menu in the top-right corner and select Remove from shared recipes.

If you want to delete multiple recipes at once, click on icon to activate it. Then click on the recipe you want to delete. If you want to select and delete all recipes, click on icon again. Once you selected, press icon in the top bar.

Once you have confirmed the deletion, the shared recipes will be removed. As for the user who shared the recipe with you, everything remains unchanged.

+ How do public recipes work?

If you have a recipe you'd like to share publicly, open your recipe, click on the menu in the top right corner and select Publish. You can then choose whether to add your user name when sharing the recipe, as well as allow sharing it on Instagram. If you agree to share your recipe on Instagram site of Smartlyst, you may want to add your Instagram name, so that we can post who the recipe is from.

You can search for public recipes based on the recipe name and ingredients, as well as filter by recipe categories. If you like one of these recipes but want to change it, first copy it to your own recipes. You can do this by opening the public recipe you want to copy, click the menu in the upright corner and select Copy to my own recipes. You will now have it in your recipes and start to change it whenever you like.

What is so great about public recipes is that you can also share a recipe with users who have not registered with Smartlyst app. To do this, click on the menu in the top right corner and click Share. The Smartlyst app then offers you a variety of applications you can share the link of your recipe with.

SETTINGS

+ What can I set?

You can activate different functions and set notifications in the Settings. There is an icon on the left of each item to describe in detail what the function and the notification means. As a default setting, all functions and notifications are turned on. Should you not need one, turn it off.

+ What function and notifications can I turn on/off?

You can turn on/off the followings:

  • Vibrate when buying a product: when you're shopping, your phone vibrates when someone ticked a product on the shared shopping list. Only vibrates when the app is open.
  • Recommend regular products: When you open the app, the regularly purchased products are provided at some intervals to add it to your shopping list. To activate this option turn on "Regular" when editing your product.
  • When a new item added to your list: it notifies you when someone adds a new product on a shared shopping list.
  • When products running low: it notifies you of the regularly purchased products are running low. Upon notification, you can add the product to your shopping list. To activate this option turn on "Regular" when editing your product.
  • When somebody shares a shopping list: it notifies you when a shopping list(s) is (are) shared with you.
  • When somebody shares a recipe: it notifies you when a recipe(s) is (are) shared with you.
  • Keep screen turned on: the screen is not locked while shopping.

+ How can I turn on and off the features and notifications?

There is a icon on the right side of each function or notification to turn it on or off. When the feature is switched on, it is purple like this , when it is switched off, it is grey . Once you changed the settings, press Save.

+ How can I change my personal data?

Open the menu, click on your name or profile picture to open the "Profile" screen where you can modify you name, email address, place of residence, profile picture and your password. To save your changes, click on Save.

+ How do I add or change a profile picture?

Open the menu and click your name or profile picture to open the profile page. Click your profile picture, then select the action you need in the pop-up window. If you want to create a new profile picture, click the Take a photo button. If you want to upload an existing picture, click the Upload picture button. If you have not already enabled the app to access your photos, you must first give permission to. Then select your profile picture from the gallery and the application starts to upload it. Before uploading, you can still edit your profile picture, e.g. rotate the image or zoom in to a specific point.

+ How can I delete my account?

Open the menu, click on your name or profile picture to open the "Profile" screen, then click on Delete account button on the bottom of this screen.

Deleting the account cannot be revoked because all personal data is removed. Recipes and shopping lists are stored; however, no one has access to it. We will send you an email with a code that can help you connect to another account upon your request.

FEATURES

+ What happens if I have no Internet access?

If there is no Internet access, you can only manage the shopping list, other functions such as synchronisation, recipes, smart suggestions and other notifications will not work.

If you modify the shopping list, you will see the changes only on the device where you edited. If you are logged in on other devices changes cannot be viewed. Besides, should you make changes to a shared list, the other user will not see them.

Once you have Internet access on your device that you have made the changes, the application will automatically synchronise, and the changes will be displayed on your other devices and to users with whom you use a shared list.

+ Can I use the app without registration?

Yes, it is possible to use Smartlyst app without registration. After installing the app, there is an option to use in Anonym mode. If you choose this, you can test some of the features, for example, create a shopping list or add products to the list. However, if you want to take advantage of all the features, you are advised to sign up.

The following features are only available for registered users:

  • create and import recipes
  • manage and synchronise shopping lists and recipes on separate devices
  • share shopping lists and recipes with other users
  • smart suggestions and notifications

+ What happens if I use the app in Anonym mode, i.e. I am not registered?

If you choose for Anonim use, you can use the application in a limited way, not all features are available. You can make or change shopping lists, add products to the list, or edit products. Shopping lists made in anonym mode will remain on your device later, so they won't be lost when you sign up for the app and log in to your account.

+ What is synchronisation good for?

If you have internet connection on your device, synchronization is automatic, though it may not always work properly. If you feel that the changes you have made to another device or made by another user are not updated, such as a shared shopping list, then click on Sync.

+ How does Smartlyst recommend me products that I regularly buy?

To have this smart feature, you need to turn on this option for each product you purchase on a regular basis. Open your shopping list then click on icon next to the product and Edit product window appears. Switch on Regular icon, so it turns purple . Once you made the changes, press Save.

Even though a product is selected as a regularly purchased product, you should buy it at least twice to be considered as a regularly purchased product, so the app can recommend it to you before the product is running low. Make sure that Recommend regular products is switched on in Settings.

+ How do I get notifications about the products before they run out?

First, see "How does Smartlyst recommend me products that I buy regularly?"

Then make sure that When products running low notification is switched on in the Settings.
